Testimonials

  • What students say about practicing Ashtanga in Mysore

I feel very fortunate to meet MV Chidananda a long time ago. He is a great dedicated teacher, who with his vast knowledge continually teaches us about yoga and also about life being himself a humble human being.

In the world of Ashtanga, we are taught that there is one holder of the lineage of Ashtanga yoga. But this is not true; there are more holders of the lineage, and there are other aspects of the practice that we should always pursue and search for the truth.

    Mariam Fares - Palestine

I completed my teacher training course (TTC) here in Jan 2025. The shala is small which means that Chidananda is able to give all students attention and adjustments. I gained a completely new undertanding of each asana and the transitions. Chidananada is a master of technique, alignment and breaking down postures to the students ability.

The best decision that i made during my journey in Mysore was to study in Sachidananda, I improved a lot thanks to the teacher Chidananda, he is an amazing architect of the body. He has a lot of knowledge in alignments, he respects your level and at the same time he shows you how you can improve, the attention is personalized. If you really want to go deep in your practice this is the right place for you.

I have been practicing Ashtanga yoga since 2014 in various locations with different teachers. In 2017, I completed teacher training with Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor, which was an amazing journey. However, I have never felt the way I do now in this Shala and with this teacher.

What I'm about to share are my observations and experiences. Each person has their own observations and experiences in life. I have been learning, and I am still learning, from Sachidananda. He is a patient, modest, wise and authentic teacher who teaches Ashtanga yoga in a spiritual way. The energy in the Shala is amazing, with good frequency and vibrations. Sachidananda has a pure heart full of love. He treats all students equally and he is dedicated to his teachings. He is always happy to share his knowledge and gives everything he knows to the students.

Sachidananda's techniques and way of teaching have helped me achieve things that I never thought possible in these years. He is considerate and takes his time when teaching new postures. As a student, you need to be patient and wait because the results will amaze you.

I am grateful for his existence and the impact he has had and still has on my yoga journey.

In the world of Ashtanga, we are taught that there is one holder of the lineage of Ashtanga yoga. But this is not true; there are more holders of the lineage, and there are other aspects of the practice that we should always pursue and search for the truth. 🙏🏼

My journey at Sachidananda Yoga Shala for the Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training Course (TTC) in January was absolutely transformative.

What truly sets this shala apart is Chida Sir. His kindness, passion, and unparalleled patience make each session an enriching experience. Sir's ability to cater to the needs of every student, regardless of their level, is commendable. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced practitioner, you'll find yourself supported and challenged in equal measure.

I wholeheartedly recommend Sachidananda Yoga Shala to anyone seeking authentic teachings and a nurturing environment to explore the depths of Ashtanga yoga. It's more than just a yoga studio; it's a sanctuary for personal growth and spiritual awakening.

I completed my 200-hour teacher training there, and it was an amazing experience!

The Shala's intimate size allows for a lot of personalized attention from the attentive Asana teacher. His focus on details has greatly enhanced my learning, emphasizing safety and progress. Despite a hamstring injury, I practiced there with confidence, thanks to his excellent guidance in recovery. The other teachers are equally passionate and fascinating!

Chidananda teaches what perfection looks like so we know where to aim as we practice and grow within our limitations. Love his balance of kindness and strictness. Feel blessed to be under his guidance as an authentic guru who generously shares his knowledge and wisdom. He is a rare gem in Mysore ✨🙏🏻✨
